Update!

I thought I would update everyone on my experience from yesterday. I could not make my appointment to my Neurologist. They called me about 2 hours before my visit to tell me that they needed a referral. Even though I have been using them all year, they needed a referral.

So, I contacted my insurance company. No, I am not going to name them here but suffice it to say that I will be changing companies when the open enrollment period arrives. Anyway, the insurance company said they do not require referrals. They could not give me an answer as to why my doctor was told that I needed one, yet they are telling me that I don’t… Any company that will give two different answers to a doctor and a patient is not going to get my money. You have to be consistent. I do not mind getting a referral, but tell me that I need one ahead of time and I will take care of it with my PCP.

So I had to cancel the appointment yesterday. However, my neuro is going to see me on October 29, 2020.  But that is OK. My PCP, who is going to be new since I moved and wanted someone closer, is only about 5 miles away and is going to see me on September 24 so that is just a couple of days away. I kinda feel sorry for my new PCP. He is getting ready to get a ton dropped in him and doesn’t even know it is coming but I am sure that he can handle it.

As for me… I am walking a little better than I was. But I am still having problems getting around. I fell probably 5 or 6 times Saturday and I think a couple of times Sunday. I haven’t fallen since then thankfully. My knees are scraped up and my elbows are a little scraped up but I am still standing, even if it is with the help of a cane at this point.

But my legs still feel like they are made of rubber, and I have a crawling sensation that feels like it is under my skin and the pain level is ramped way up today. If I had to put a number on it like doctors love to do I would give it an 8 or 9. I think I need to ask my PCP for a referral to a pain clinic. This is just getting to be too much. Gina, my partner, has some Oxycodone pills and I used to be on them. I don’t even have a prescription for them anymore but I swiped a couple from her and took them and they didn’t do a thing. I really didn’t expect them to but I wanted to give is a shot to see if they would help now and got nada out of them.

That is it for now. I hope everyone stays safe and has a wonderful day.
